User Agreement
Version 0.9.12 · 30 Oct 2026
Effective: [date] · Version: 1.0
1. The agreement
This agreement is between you and Nexus BI Partners ("Lift"). By creating an account you accept it, together with the Privacy Policy (Part A). Under the Electronic Transactions Act, 2008, your acceptance in the app is a valid electronic signature.
2. What Lift is — and is not
Lift is a technology platform that connects private car owners travelling a route with passengers travelling along the same route. Lift is not a transport operator, taxi service or employer. Drivers are private individuals offering a seat on a journey they are already making; they are not Lift's agents or employees. Lift does not own or inspect vehicles beyond the document checks described in this agreement and does not guarantee that any journey will take place.
3. Eligibility and verification
- You must be 18 or over, legally able to enter contracts, and hold a valid Ghana Card.
- Drivers must hold a valid Ghanaian driving licence, and their vehicle must be registered, insured for passengers, and roadworthy. You must keep these current and tell us when they expire. Driving without valid insurance or roadworthy is a breach of this agreement and of the law.
- We review documents before activating a driver and may re-verify at any time. We may refuse, suspend or close any account at our discretion to protect users.
- Your account is personal. One person, one account, one device. You may not let anyone else use your account, drive under your driver profile, or register on someone else's behalf. We may suspend accounts used from more than one device.
4. Cashless — the core rule
- Passengers pay Lift for the use of the app by buying tokens (clause 5). Drivers earn loyalty points from Lift (clause 6).
- No money, goods or favours may be requested, offered or exchanged between a passenger and a driver for a Lift journey. A driver who asks for payment, or a passenger who offers it, breaches this agreement; the trip should be reported and the account may be suspended.
5. Tokens (passengers)
- Tokens are prepaid credit for using Lift. They are not money, do not earn interest, cannot be exchanged for cash, and are not refundable except where the law requires or where we choose to refund a failed service. You may buy tokens for another person and may transfer tokens to another verified Lift user within the limits shown in the app; transfers are final. Buying tokens in order to sell them for money is a breach of this agreement.
- Bundle prices and the number of tokens a trip consumes are shown in the app before you buy and before you request a lift. The cost of a trip is based on the distance you share with the driver, calculated as the lower of the planned route distance and the distance actually travelled.
- When a driver accepts your request, the estimated cost is reserved from your balance. You are charged only when the trip is completed and confirmed. If the driver cancels or the request expires, the reservation is released.
- Fees: if you cancel after the driver has set off for your pickup, or you are not at the pickup point within
[5]minutes of the driver arriving (a "no-show"), a small fee stated in the app is charged. Fees exist to protect drivers' time and are deliberately modest. - Tokens do not expire while your account is active. If your account is closed, unused tokens are forfeited after
[90]days unless the law requires otherwise. - We may change bundle prices and consumption rates with 14 days' notice in the app. Tokens already purchased keep their value.
6. Loyalty points (drivers)
- Points are a reward Lift grants for verified completed journeys and good ratings, under the rules shown in the app. Points are not wages, fees or payment for transport; they do not create an employment, agency or partnership relationship.
- Points are awarded only for trips that both the driver and the passenger confirm as completed. Points may be withheld or reversed where a trip was not genuine, where the rules were broken, or where ratings were manipulated.
- Points may be redeemed in two ways only — a fuel load onto the TomCard linked to your account, or a Mobile Money transfer to the registered wallet in your own name — at the rates shown at the time of redemption. Redemptions are subject to verification and may take up to
[7]days. Points have no cash value except through a redemption we approve, cannot be transferred, and are forfeited if an account is closed for breach. - You are responsible for any tax consequences of rewards you receive.
7. Your obligations on every trip
Everyone
- Be accurate: use your real name, real photos and real documents.
- Be on time and at the agreed pickup/drop-off points.
- Treat the other person with respect. No harassment, discrimination, threats or abuse.
- Keep to the arrangement shown in the app: the driver's published route, the agreed stops.
- Use the in-app reporting and safety tools; do not take disputes into the car.
Drivers
- Drive lawfully and safely; obey speed limits; no phone use while driving except the app's hands-free navigation; no alcohol or drugs.
- Never carry more passengers than the seats you declared.
- Follow your published route; do not detour for or because of a passenger.
- Mark pickups and drop-offs honestly and at the actual time and place.
- Keep the vehicle in the condition shown in your profile.
Passengers
- Check the plate, colour and driver's face before boarding. If they don't match, do not board; report it.
- Do not ask the driver to deviate from the route or to make extra stops.
- Wear a seatbelt.
8. Operating hours
For safety, Lift is closed between 23:00 and 04:00 Ghana time (we may adjust these hours in the app). New journeys and requests cannot be started during closed hours; a trip already in progress will complete, and the safety broadcast and support remain available at all times.
9. Ratings and reports
After each completed trip both parties rate each other 1–5 stars. Ratings are private: the other party never sees them. They are personal opinions and may affect matching priority and rewards. You must not coerce, trade or manipulate ratings. We may remove ratings we judge unfair or manipulated. Reports of misconduct are investigated by Lift staff; we may suspend an account while we investigate and share information with the police where a crime may have been committed.
10. Monitoring and SOS
Either party may place a trip under live monitoring by Lift's safety desk — and, once Lift has an agreement in place, by its response partner (the Ghana Police Service or a licensed private security company; the app always names who is watching) — before or during the trip, and either party may raise an SOS during a trip. When monitoring is on, both parties are told, and the identities, vehicle, route and live location of the trip are shared with the safety desk (and the response partner's authorised officers, where there is one) for the duration of the trip. Monitoring may be set as always-on in your profile and may be required by Lift for certain trips (for example late in the evening). Turning on monitoring is never misuse; raising an SOS without reason is a breach of this agreement. In an emergency call 191 or 18555.
11. Prohibited conduct
Using Lift for commercial hire or as a taxi service; arranging payment outside the app; sharing accounts; creating fake trips, ratings or requests; harassment of any kind; carrying illegal goods; using the app while driving unsafely; scraping or reverse-engineering the app; impersonating Lift staff.
12. Suspension and termination
We may warn, restrict, suspend or terminate your account for breach of this agreement, for safety concerns, for legal reasons, or where documents expire. We will tell you the reason unless the law prevents it. You may delete your account at any time in the app without contacting us; Privacy Policy section 9A explains what happens to your data, and clauses 5(5) and 6(3) apply to balances.
13. Insurance and liability
- Drivers must hold motor insurance that covers passengers. Lift does not provide insurance for drivers, vehicles or passengers. Lift is a matching service: it connects people already travelling the same way and does not employ drivers, set routes or carry passengers. In the event of an accident, the driver's own motor insurance applies to the vehicle and its passengers.
- To the fullest extent permitted by Ghanaian law, Lift is not liable for loss, injury or damage arising from a journey, the conduct of another user, road conditions, or events outside our control. Nothing in this agreement excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.
- Our total liability to you for any claim relating to the app is limited to the value of tokens or rewards in your account at the time of the claim.
- The app and its matching are provided "as is". We do not guarantee that a driver or passenger will be available.
14. Indemnity
You will indemnify Lift against claims arising from your breach of this agreement or the law, including claims by other users.
15. Intellectual property
The app, its name, design and content belong to Nexus BI Partners. You may use the app only as permitted here.
16. Changes
We may update this agreement. Material changes are notified in the app 14 days in advance and must be accepted to continue using Lift.
17. Disputes and law
This agreement is governed by the laws of the Republic of Ghana. Please contact us first at [support@…]; we aim to resolve disputes within 14 days. Unresolved disputes go to the courts of Ghana. Nothing prevents you from complaining to the Data Protection Commission or any other regulator.
